GUTTERS
Leaves out of the gutters
Dry leaves in gutters catch embers. We clear them by hand and bag the debris, so it doesn’t end up back near the house.
BEFORE FIRE DANGER SEASON
GUTTERS
Dry leaves in gutters catch embers. We clear them by hand and bag the debris, so it doesn’t end up back near the house.
GRASS
Short grass around the house slows a fire down. We mow and edge, and take the clippings away if you’d like.
RUBBISH
Old timber, cardboard and garden waste near buildings can burn. We load it up and take it away.
This helps, but it isn’t a full bushfire plan. The CFS sets Fire Danger Season dates for each district every year and has advice on preparing your home and your plan at cfs.sa.gov.au. Tree work, slashing large paddocks and burning off aren’t part of this package.
MORE LAWN. LESS TO-DO LIST.
